PHN Has Obtained Preferential Financing for the Construction of a Photovoltaic Farm in Czerwonak

Monday, March 31, 2025 - 13:23

Polski Holding Nieruchomości has successfully secured financing for the development of its first large-scale photovoltaic farm with a capacity of 18 MW. A preferential loan from the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW), granted as part of the National Recovery Plan (KPO), will cover 85% of eligible investment costs, which is about PLN 33.5 million. The investment is crucial to the company’s ESG strategy and is part of its strive to supply PHN Group’s properties with green energy.

PHN is expanding its operations in the renewable energy sector. The project to build a photovoltaic farm in Owińska (Czerwonak municipality, Greater Poland) is the company’s first such undertaking. Under the terms of the financing, more than 70% of the energy produced (about 12 GWh per year) will be allocated to PHN Group’s real estate needs, reducing the buildings’ carbon footprint and increasing the attractiveness of rental to current and future tenants.

The financing provided by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in the amount of 85% of eligible costs, or about PLN 33.5 million, includes a preferential loan for a period of 14.5 years with a current interest rate of about 2.26%. As part of its ESG strategy, PHN plans to leverage its own renewable energy sources to power its property portfolio and optimize operating costs.

“Obtaining financing for our first photovoltaic farm is a milestone in PHN’s development as a modern and sustainability-oriented company. We have recently announced PHN’s strategy for 2025-2030, and this venture shows how quickly we are moving to implement it. The investment will optimize energy costs and meet the highest environmental standards. We are analysing more land for RES projects, as the development of green energy is one of our strategic priorities,” said Jacek Krawczykowski, Vice President – Member of the Management Board for Investment, Polski Holding Nieruchomości S.A.

“Investments by companies in improving energy efficiency and installing renewable energy systems deliver both environmental benefits and economic gains. The "Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy in Enterprises" program also contributes to increasing the share of renewables in the national energy mix,"  said Józef Matysiak, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.

PHN is currently working on the documentation necessary to apply for a construction permit for the photovoltaic farm. The company plans to obtain an administrative decision by the end of 2025, which will enable construction works to begin in 2026. Commissioning of the plant and the start of electricity production is scheduled for 2027.

With this investment, PHN will strengthen its position as an innovative player in the real estate market, caring for ecology, energy efficiency and optimal conditions for its tenants. The photovoltaic farm in Czerwonak municipality is the beginning of PHN’s broader strategy in the area of renewable energy.
