Tomorrow at dusk, the symbol of Fighting Poland — the characteristic anchor — will appear on the INTRACO skyscraper belonging to the real estate portfolio of PHN Group.
The lights lit in 72 windows, on 8 floors between the 30th and 37th floor, will create the symbol of the Polish Underground State. This is the fifth time the PHN Group will commemorate the anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising.
The Warsaw Uprising broke out on August 1, 1944 and was the largest military effort undertaken by the underground resistance within German-occupied Europe. The Uprising lasted for 63 days of an uneven fight. The anchor-shaped symbol of Fighting Poland was widely used during World War II. The sign in which the part resembling the letter P stands for Poland, and W-shaped arms mean the fight or an “anchor”, symbolizes the hope for regaining independence.
