The first SKYSAWA building receives the highest BREEAM certificate in Poland at the “final” stage

The lower part of the SKYSAWA office and commercial complex, the flagship investment of Polski Holding Nieruchomości, has been awarded the final BREEAM certificate on the highest possible level (Outstanding) with a record score of 94.1 percent. This is currently the highest rating in Poland in the BREEAM New Construction 2016 system. Thus, the score from the “interim” stage has been increased by more than 3 percent.

When applying for a certificate in the BREEAM New Construction multi-criteria system, the building was evaluated in 10 categories, including management, energy, transport, water, and materials. In 3 out of 10 categories, the SAWA building received the maximum number of points, i.e. for transport, water saving, and implementation process management.

“At the final stage of certification, we were able to increase the very high rating we received at the “interim” stage. From the beginning, our investment was carried out in accordance with the highest ecological standards, and we managed to maintain this principle until obtaining the occupancy permit. We used certified materials during construction. In order to reduce our carbon footprint, we tried to use local products as much as possible. The certificate is a guarantee that our tenants will be using the building which is friendly for people and for the environment,” said Marcin Mazurek, President of the Management Board of Polski Holding Nieruchomości.

Our efforts have already been recognized twice by BREE Group. In 2020, the lower part of the SKYSAWA complex was nominated in the prestigious BREEAM Awards competition in the “Commercial Projects Design Stage Award” category. This year also the higher part of the SKYSAWA complex was nominated in this competition in the “Regional Award Central and Eastern Europe” category.

“The recently released sixth IPCC report leaves no doubt: we all need to get involved in the fight against climate change. We, as the building industry, are putting this into practice by creating sustainable buildings, and the high BREEAM score of the SAWA building is a great example of this,” commented Natalia Kwiecińska, Senior Sustainability Advisor, Gleeds Polska.

SKYSAWA is a flagship project of Polski Holding Nieruchomości. The key asset of the project is its excellent location in the very center of the capital. It is one of the few investments in Warsaw with a direct connection to the Rondo ONZ metro station, whereas the proximity of tram and bus stops, a nearby train station and a full cycling infrastructure are all incentives to support sustainable urban mobility and reduce carbon footprint. At the end of January this year, the entire complex was leased by PKO Bank Polski.
