73rd Anniversary of Outbreak of Warsaw Uprising – Anchor of Fighting Poland Will Be Displayed in Windows of the INTRACO Building

poniedziałek, Lipiec 31, 2017 - 21:09

Tomorrow at dusk, the symbol of Fighting Poland, i.e. the characteristic “anchor”, will appear in windows of the INTRACO building, owned by PHN Group. The emblem of the Polish Underground State will be formed by lights in 72 windows on eight floors between the 30th and 37th floor of the Warsaw’s skyscraper.  In this symbolic way, PHN Group celebrates the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising for the fourth time.

“August 1 marks the 73rd anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising. We pay tribute to the sacrifice of those who fought for Poland and its freedom. We will never forget the courage of people who did not lose their hope for regaining independence and fought against the German occupier until their last breath. This symbolic gesture of lights forming the emblem of Fighting Poland on the INTRACO Building is our tribute to the insurgents and casualties.

The history of our company has been tied with Warsaw for more than 50 years, and we want to celebrate the story of the courageous capital with its residents,” said Maciej Jankiewicz, President of the Management Board of Polski Holding Nieruchomości S.A.

The initiative has also been supported by INTRACO’s tenants, including Operator Logistyczny Paliw Płynnych Sp. z o.o., Sasol Poland Sp. z o.o., Everest Investments S.A., Hoerbiger Polska Sp. z o.o., Marubeni Corporation S.A., Tax Chamber in Warsaw, Alora Sp. z o.o., Agencja JOCHYM, and Arminex Trading Sp. z o.o., for which we heartily thank them.

Warsaw Uprising broke out on August 1, 1944 and was the biggest underground military action in the German-occupied Europe. Planned to last several days, it took more than two months. The anchor-shaped symbol of Fighting Poland was widely used during World War II. The sign in which the part resembling the letter P stands for Poland, and W-shaped arms mean the fight or an “anchor”, symbolizes the hope for regaining independence.
