Anchor will appear on the INTRACO buildings at ul. Wierzbowa

Polski Holding Nieruchomości has been involved in activities aimed at celebrating historical events important to Poles for years. This year, PHN will once again take part in the commemoration of the anniversary of Warsaw Uprising by displaying the anchor-shaped symbol of Fighting Poland on the INTRACO office complex owned by the company and on the tenement house at ul. WIerzbowa.

“The Warsaw Uprising is a special event for Polish history and tradition. On the stroke of the “W” hour, when traffic in the capital and other Polish cities stops, we pay tribute to the Warsaw Uprising insurgents, remembering the soldiers and fallen citizens,” said Marcin Mazurek, President of the Management Board of Polski Holding Nieruchomości S.A.

“Just like every year, we will commemorate the heroic events of August 1944 by displaying the anchor-shaped symbol of Fighting Poland on the INTRACO building that will be visible from afar. It symbolizes our memory and connection with those who lived and fought 77 years ago. This year, the anchor will also appear for the first time on our building at ul. Wierzbowa,” added Marcin Mazurek.

The anchor-shaped symbol will be created by lights turned on in 72 windows on 8 floors of the INTRACO skyscraper in Warsaw’s Muranów district. It will be visible even from a distance of 5 kilometers from Friday evening, July 30th. Starting on Saturday, July 31st, the anchor will be displayed in video mapping technique for 2 evenings on the facade of the tenement house at ul Wierzbowa 9/11 owned by the company.

Representatives of the PHN Group will also lay flowers at the plaque commemorating the soldiers of the Home Army Group “Chrobry II”  on ul. Sienna.

As part of this year's celebration of the anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, Polski Holding Nieruchomości also made a donation to the Field Cathedral of the Polish Army in Warsaw for the organization of the “Chwała Bohaterom — Warszawa Pamięta” (Glory to the Heroes — Warsaw Remembers) gala concert. The concert will take place at the Field Cathedral of the Polish Army in Warsaw at ul. Długa 13/15 on August 1st, 2021 at 7 p.m.

The Warsaw Uprising broke out on August 1, 1944 at 5 p.m. and was the largest military effort undertaken by the underground resistance in German-occupied Europe. The uneven fight lasted for over two months. The anchor-shaped symbol of Fighting Poland was widely used during World War II as the symbol of the Polish Underground State and the Home Army. The sign in which the letter P stands for Poland, and W-shaped arms mean fight (“walka” in Polish) or an “anchor”, symbolizes the hope for regaining independence.
