The results of PHN S.A.’s competition for preparing an architectural and urban planning concept for the complex of office buildings and green areas at ul. Hryniewickiego 10 in Gdynia have been publicly announced. The first place was taken by the architectural studio S.A.M.I. Architekci Mariusz Lewandowski i Wspólnicy Sp. z o.o., which will be invited to negotiate the terms and conditions of an agreement for preparing design documentation, constituting a detailed development of the competition work.

In March this year, in order to develop the Molo Rybackie pier in the best possible way, Polski Holding Nieruchomości S.A. organized a competition for the architectural and urban planning concept for the office building at ul. Hryniewickiego 10. Twenty architectural studios enrolled in the competition, of which ten were admitted and five qualified to the final. Works were assessed by the Competition Jury consisting of representatives of Gdynia City Office, the Association of Polish Architects and Polski Holding Nieruchomości S.A.

According to the justification of the verdict, the winning design prepared by S.A.M.I. Architekci Mariusz Lewandowski i Wspólnicy Sp. z o.o. “demonstrated high professionalism of solutions, functional and economic as well as esthetic. It has met the conditions of the competition and the jury’s recommendations presented after the first stage. The design’s value lies in an interesting concept of public space in which the size of the patio corresponds to the scale of the buildings (…). The design is characterized by calm, timeless architecture of the buildings, and the details of overhangs and bridges connecting the buildings make the whole concept unique.”

The second place was held by WOLSKI Architekci Sp. z o.o., and the third by Arch-Deco Sp. z o.o. The Competition Jury also decided to award a special distinction to PPW FORT Sp. z o.o. & ROARK STUDIO Sp. z o.o.

“We have been pleasantly surprised by such huge interest among architectural studios, which testifies to the uniqueness and attractiveness of the area in question. We are also aware of the area’s rank and landscape value, so we put particular emphasis on the best possible use of its potential, and the architectural competition has made it possible to analyze various proposals in great detail. Architectural solutions in the winning concept will enable us to obtain favorable economic parameters such as rental area and investment cost,” said Maciej Jankiewicz, President of the Management Board of Polski Holding Nieruchomości S.A.

The estimated area of the project is ca. 25,000 sq.m. Construction works are planned to start in 2018 and last for ca. 2 years.
