RECORD-HIGH RESULT OF THE SKYSAWA TOWER’S FINAL BREEAM CERTIFICATION WITH AN “OUTSTANDING” RATING

Tuesday, February 28, 2023 - 14:14

The SKYSAWA tower, which is more than 155 meters high, has been awarded the final BREEAM sustainable construction certificate with the “Outstanding” rating with a score of 95.6%. This is currently the highest rating obtained in Poland in the BREEAM International 2016 scheme. The tower received 2% more than the design-level certification assumed (93.6%).

BREEAM is a multi-criteria building scoring system. PHN’s investment was assessed in ten categories, including: implementation process management, health and wellbeing, energy use, location and transport, water consumption, materials, waste, land use and ecology, pollution and innovation. In three categories, i.e. for the implementation process management, location and transport, and water consumption, SKYSAWA received the maximum number score. The building also received 96 points in the energy category. In Poland there are approx. ten newly-erected buildings with an “Outstanding” BREEAM certificate. Both the lower part of the complex and the tower were nominated for the BREEAM Awards at the design stage.

“Although the SKYSAWA tower has long since reached its target height, we are still breaking new records. 95.6% in the final BREEAM certification confirms that we have made every effort to reduce the impact of the building on the environment and create a healthy and comfortable working environment. BREEAM has become a permanent part of our company’s philosophy”, said Marcin Mazurek, President of the Management Board of Polski Holding Nieruchomości.

“It is an honor for us to be involved in such a unique investment. SKYSAWA is a recognizable point in the Warsaw’s landscape, and also a project delivered in line with the ideas of ESG, which are extremely important to us. The key to this success was undoubtedly the good cooperation of everyone involved in the process, including the Gleeds Polska Teams dedicated to BREEAM certification and investor supervision. We would like to thank our Client for the trust they have placed in us and congratulate them on the SKYSAWA tower’s highest score in Poland!” – commented Andrzej Kozak, Deputy Managing Director of Gleeds Polska.

SKYSAWA is the flagship investment of Polski Holding Nieruchomości. The construction was completed in June 2022, and the key advantage of the investment is its excellent location in the very center of the capital. It is one of the few investments in Warsaw with a direct connection to the Rondo ONZ metro station, whereas the proximity of tram and bus stops, a nearby train station and a full cycling infrastructure are all incentives to support sustainable urban mobility and reduce carbon footprint. At the end of January 2022, the entire complex was leased by PKO Bank Polski. Finishing work is currently underway in the complex.

About the SKYSAWA project

SKYSAWA is a state-of-the-art office and commercial complex with an area of ca. 34,550 sq. m. Its construction began at the end of June 2019. The key asset of the project is its excellent location — in the very center of the capital, right by Rondo ONZ, in the quarter of Świętokrzyska, Twarda, Mariańska and Aleja Jana Pawła II streets. SKYSAWA is one of the few buildings in Warsaw that have a direct connection to a metro station. Both parts of the complex have been awarded a BREEAM Final certificate with the highest possible rating – Outstanding. The construction work was completed in June 2022, and finishing work is currently underway. Polski Holding Nieruchomości is the investor of the SKYSAWA complex. The author of the construction design is PBPA. The consortium of PORR, TKT Engineering and ELIN was responsible for project implementation. The Polish branch of the international group of consultants, Gleeds Polska, was supervising the construction.
